Month 3 of 12: Journey to achieving my New Year's Resolution, 'I will write funny'.
Mar. 31 '24, I’m documenting what ‘learning from math,’ looks like in another endeavour.
What am I doing?
Writing words funny. Over my 12-month Resolution journey I’m documenting what ‘learning from math,’ looks like in another endeavour. And this non-math endeavour is one I’ve been weak in for a lifetime (I’m not funny), so I’m motivated to learn and make this happen! Welcome to Month 3 of 12. Here are my steps: Month 2, Month 1, Start.
How do you get better at something you’ve never been good at?
The plan?
Apply the learning habits and strategies I write about weekly in Math by Edison to learn how to write funny. Easy as 1-2-3 … 4+5+6, or maybe easy like ‘0/0’?
It’s like a simple math formula: think about words ⏳ write words 📄 rearrange words ↩ takeaway words ➖ add words ➕ then re-read the words ↪ … equals 📣 A SMILE 😊.
Results and Feedback?
I will know I’m heading in the right direction if, when my words make me smile. And if my words don’t make me smile, well … I’ll exhale, pick myself up off the floor, give myself points for resilience, and then lean into ‘learn from my mistakes. How? By strengthening whichever of The Learning 5 I’m weak in.
I’m following the approach of,
The Input-Output-Machine of Life, Math, Learning & You three-part series (un, deux, trois). A Smile is the Output I’m striving for, and the Input is the words I use and rearrange that become funny. And if at first, I don’t succeed, wonderful, I’ll have a second chance to learn from my mistakes and figure out a new Input to do the next time. It’s just rejigging words ...
What did I achieve In March?
1. Created an online blog for I write funny. Yay!
2. Wrote words on the blog that made me smile 😊.
3. And did it 1x/week, on Saturdays.
April plan?
1. I’ll continue writing 1x to 2x/week on, I write funny.
2. I will write something funny for 25 of the 30 days in my notebook
3. That’s it. The ship has left harbour ⛵, the choo-choo is on it’s way🚂. The fun trip now gets real.
All words on deck! Check.
I will grin at my chagrins. Check!
So let the fun sentences begin 😊.
End of Month 3
